Shubman Gill has received widespread praise since his stunning effort as skipper of the Indian side in the maiden Test series, which took place on English soil. His maiden assignment bore the same fruit as that of veterans, as Shubman Gill could end the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a draw.

Alongside the skipper, the team as a unit also performed very well, and Gautam Gambhir should also be handed credit for soaking in the pressure and helping India with his unique game strategies, which paid off on occasions.

Yuvraj Singh's massive praise for Shubman Gill after England heroics

Former Indian all-rounder and World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh could not be prouder than he is after Indian skipper Shubman Gill led them to a draw in the most memorable Test series in England.

Singh also highlighted the fact that Shubman Gill, the ICC Player of the Month for July, has proved his calibre to the cricket fraternity, who used to question his ability to score runs in overseas conditions.

“There were a lot of question marks over his overseas record. The guy became the captain and scored four Test hundreds. It's just unbelievable that when you're given responsibility, how you take it,” Yuvraj said, speaking to ICC Digital on the sidelines of the ‘50 Days To Go’ Women’s Cricket World Cup event.

“So, very proud of them. I certainly feel it's a win for us, although it's a drawn series, because it's a young team. And it's not easy to go and play well in England and prove yourself,” he added.

Singh also praises the Indian team's stupendous effort overall to pull out a stellar draw

After praising Gill for his standout performance, since he led the team from the front with 754 runs across 5 games and averaged 75.40 in the series with 4 meaningful hundreds, one of which was a mammoth 269 at Edgbaston. When a captain performs, the pressure is automatically relieved from the team.

After the skipper, Singh, went on to praise the efforts of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar. He lauded their effort to score those hundreds to end the Manchester Test in a draw.

“The moment in the tournament was when India drew the Test series. I've never seen, in a very long time, Washington and Jadeja get hundreds and draw a Test match," he added.

“That speaks volumes. Obviously, Jadeja has been there for a long time. But I think Washington Sundar, as a youngster coming into the team, I think it was incredible to do what he did.”

Indian star sets new standards for the young Indian team

After praising the players and their performance, Yuvraj highlighted the fact that it was a young Indian team led by a very young skipper who pulled off something this impactful in England. Not for a second in the series did the batters look like amateurs; they always looked like Gambhir's "Gun Team."

“I think it's just fantastic because I felt when you have a young team going to England, it's a lot of pressure.

“You're filling the boots of somebody like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, it's not easy. I think the guys took it head-on,” Yuvraj concluded.
