Afghanistan take on Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Harare on June 6 eyeing to win the series. They are leading the 1-0 at the moment and a win in the second ODI would ensure that they bag another series win.

The Afghan side has come into this series on the back of an ODI series loss to Bangladesh. They lost the three-match series 1-2. The side is led by Hasmatullah Rahman. He scored a valiant 88 in the first ODI to help his side take the lead in the series.

Afghanistan looked a better side in the first game and head into the second ODI as the more confident of the two sides. Ahead of the second ODI, we take a glance at Afghanistan’s predicted playing XI against Zimbabwe in the match.

Gurbaz is a young and talented wicketkeeper-batsman in the current Afghan side. He replaced the experienced Mohammed Shahzad at the top. However, he failed to get going in the first ODI scoring just 17 off 31 deliveries. He would like to make the opportunity count in the second game.

Ibrahim Zadran

Zadran was dismissed for just five in the first ODI. However, he should be given another chance in the second ODI to come up with a good performance.

Shan top-scored for Afghanistan scoring 94 off 120 balls. He missed out on his century by just six runs. It was his partnership with skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi that allowed Afghanistan to get to 276 in the first ODI.

Skipper Shahidi anchored the innings by playing a crucial 88-run innings in the first ODI. He will be looking to do the same in the second ODI as well.

Mohammad Nabi

Nabi scored just 10 runs with the bat but took four wickets in the ball in the first ODI for Afghanistan. His valuable experience was once again on show for the Afghan side in the game.

Najibullah Zadran

Zadran is one of the more experienced players in the current Afghanistan side. The trio of Nabi, Zadran and Rashid Khan in the middle-order is one of the real strengths of the current side.

Rashid scored an unbeaten 39 along with taking two wickets in the first ODI. The world saw his batting exploits recently in the IPL and the Zimbabwean side was also treated to something special from him. Rashid completes the top seven of Afghanistan.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman

young Mujeeb is the other spin option that Afghanistan has. Together the two of them have bamboozled batsmen all across the globe. They will keep the Zimbabwean batsmen on their toes.

Fazalhaq Farooqi

Farooqi played in the first ODI against Zimbabwe and picked up a couple of wickets giving away 48 runs, The world saw him recently playing in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Yamin Ahmadzai

Ahmadzai can be one of the pacers for the Afghan sid. He was not a part of the playing Xi in the first game. So far he has played seven ODIs in which he took five wickets. He was also part of the previous ODI series against Bangladesh but failed to get a wicket in the only game he played.

Malik concludes the probable playing XI. Afghanistan can look to field against Zimbabwe in the second ODI. The left-arm pacer picked one wicket in the previous game giving away 27 runs in nine overs.
