Zimbabwe take on Afghanistan in the second of the three ODIs in Harare on June 6. The match starts at 9.15 AM local time and is a must-win for the African nation. Afghanistan are leading the series 1-0 and another win would ensure that they win the series.
As far as their head to heads are concerned, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan have played 26 matches with each other. Zimbabwe has won 10 games while Afghanistan accounts for 16 victories. In the last five ODI matches between both the teams, Zimbabwe has won 2 games while Afghanistan has won 3 matches.
Afghanistan is being led by Hasmatullah Shahidi while Craig Ervine is leading Zimbabwe. Both teams play a three-match T20I series after the end of the ODI series. In the ICC ODI rankings, Afghanistan is placed tenth while Zimbabwe are placed 15th.
Heading into the second ODI, Zimbabwe need their batsmen to come good. Skipper Ervine scored just 30 in the first ODI which was not enough to take his side home. Sikandar Raza scored 67 and ran out of the partners at the other end as Zimbabwe lost wickets at regular intervals.
Afghanistan would ideally want to replicate their performance from the first ODI. Their top-order fired in unison and their bowlers led by Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan bowled out the opposition to complete a dominating performance.
