Zimbabwe and Afghanistan go head to head in the second ODI in Harare on June 6. This match is a must-win for Zimbabwe to stay alive in the three-match series. The match begins at 12:45 PM IST, 9:15 AM local time. A win for Afghanistan would ensure a series win for them after they won the first ODI. Zimbabwe is led by Craig Ervine in the ODI series. Afghanistan is led by Hashmatullah Shahidi. After the ODI series, both teams will play a three-match T20I series.

Afghanistan was a far better teams when both teams met in the first ODI. On the back of skipper Shahidi’s 88 and Rahmat Shah’s 94, they posted a competitive 276/5 in their fifty overs. Zimbabwe faltered in their chase and were bowled out for just 216 as Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi shared six wickets between themselves to break the back of the chase.

Both teams have come into this series on the back of a loss in their previous respective international assignments. While Zimbabwe lost to Sri Laka 1-2, Afghanistan lost to Bangladesh 1-2 as well. Afghanistan are currently tenth in the ICC ODI rankings while Zimbabwe languishing on the 15th position.

The series is important for Zimbabwe to move up on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League points table as well. They are placed on the 12th position with just 35 points. Afghanistan meanwhile ars strongly place don the third position with 80 points.
