Bangladesh left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman has suffered an injury scare ahead of the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe.

After locking horns in a one-off Test against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh is scheduled to square off against the African nation in three ODIs and as many T20Is.

The white-ball leg will start with the ODI series in Harare from July 16.

Ahead of the series, the visitors have suffered a huge injury scare after Mustafizur Rahman, who is a vital cog of Bangladesh’s white-ball set-up was reportedly suffered an ankle injury during a warm-up match against Zimbabwe Select XI.

According to a report published in CricBuzz, Mustafizur Rahman was feeling uneasy in his right ankle and he had only delivered five deliveries before the team management decided to call him in.

BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin has told CricBuzz that Rahman has been given ice therapy and further reports from the physiotherapist are awaited.

That said, there is one silver lining for Bangladesh as their ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal seems to have recovered from the injury that had ruled him out from the one-off Test.

Iqbal smashed a 62-ball 66 in the warm-up affair which helped Bangladesh post 5/296 in 50 overs.

If Mustafizur Rahman misses out from the white-ball leg due to injury then it will be a double body blow for Bangladesh, who are already without the services of veteran Mushfiqur Rahim.

Rahim has opted out of the white-ball leg citing personal reasons.

The ODI series which starts on July 16 will culminate on July 20, post which the T20I rubber will take place between July 23-27.
