Former India opener Aakash Chopra shut down a fan after the latter called young Rishabh Pant ‘only hyped guy’. It all began when Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to praise in-form Ishan Kishan and stated that the Mumbai Indians star ‘is constantly putting his name in the league of Pant and Samson’.
Kishan has been very impressive in IPL 2020 so far. After missing the initial few matches, the southpaw played a stunning knock of 99 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in his first outing this season. He followed it up with knocks of 28 and 31 against Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
“Ishan is constantly putting his name in the league of Pant and Samson. Agree?,” wrote Aakash Chopra after Kishan’s knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
However, one of his followers didn’t agree with his assessment and was quick to make it clear. He did not sound pleased with Rishabh Pant’s name being included in the list as he wrote: “Pant is really only hyped guy not consistent.”
Aakash Chopra noticed the reply and made sure to reply to it. The former cricketer-turned-commentator was quick to remind the fan of Pant’s impressive record in Test matches, stating that the youngster is the only Indian wicketkeeper with Test hundreds in England and Australia. He also mentioned his IPL record as he replied:
“Only Indian keeper to score Test tons in England and Australia. Amongst Indians—Kohli has most runs in an IPL season—second is Pant. Wishing him a very Happy Birthday on this note.”

Pant, nonetheless, is yet to play a big knock in IPL 2020 so far. The left-handed batsman has got the starts but has failed to capitalise on them. In four innings so far, his scores are – 31, 37*, 28 and 38.
