Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa played for the first time in IPL this year since 2017. Adam Zampa was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore; however, could not get enough chances, playing three matches and picking up only two wickets. Nevertheless, the leggie got to witness an entirely different side of his captain Virat Kohli – his persona off the field.
Adam Zampa and Virat Kohli have shared enticing battles on the field as the leggie has got the star batsman’s wicket numerous times. The 28-year old has removed Kohli five times in ODIs, the most number of times any spinner has claimed the 32-year old. The two crucial cricketers for their sides will resume the battle when India and Australia lock horns in a three-match ODI series, beginning from the 27th of November.
Meanwhile, when Adam Zampa arrived at the UAE, the spinner revealed that Virat Kohli made it look like they know each other for long, sending him a message over Whatsapp. The South Australian claimed that Kohli might be a competitive man on the field, bringing all his intensity to win the game at all costs. However, off the park, the Indian captain is an exceptionally chilled guy, watching funny Youtube videos and enjoying himself.
“It was the first day I arrived [and], he [Kohli] WhatsApped me, I didn’t have his number. He made it seem as if we had known each other forever. The Whatsapp message from Kohli read: “Zamps, here’s the $15 off voucher at a vegan restaurant from Deliveroo, It’s a really good restaurant. He’s absolutely not what you see on the cricket field. He always brings his intensity to training and the game; he loves competition, and he hates losing as much as anyone. He probably shows it more than anyone. Once he’s off the park, he’s the most chilled guy. He’s watching YouTube clips on the bus, and he’ll laugh out loud,” Zampa told Sydney Morning Herald.
He’s good to talk to, good fun: Adam Zampa
“There was a cricket clip recently from cricket.com.au, it was a funny run out. He was laughing about it for three weeks straight. He loves holding onto jokes like that. He talks about coffee, travelling, food. He’s a really cultured guy. He’s good to talk to, good fun,” he added.
