Of late, the bookies approaching players over the spot-fixing has become a regular scenario. Despite taking a lot of precautionary measures by the respective boards and ICC, somewhere the other, the problem is still persisting in the game of cricket. The latest cricketer to get linked with it is Afghanistan keeper Mohammad Shahzad.

The swashbuckling batsman has been approached by the bookies for the upcoming inaugural edition of Afghanistan Premier League 2018.  The reports have been made by Wah Cricket which also took the scenario to ICC Anti-corruption unit as well.

Mohammed Shahzad is the crucial member of Afghanistan team:

Meanwhile, apart from Mohammed Shahzad, there are 8 international cricketers have been approached by a bookie in the last one year of time. Off them, 4 players are from the Test playing nations which are a surprising factor.

In addition to it, the officials were also approached by the bookies for the spot-fixing. However, ICC is trying its best to eradicate the issue. Meanwhile, the ICC anti-corruption chief Alex Marshall speaks on it.

“There have been 32 investigations in the last 12 months, eight involve players as suspects. Five of them involve administrators or non-playing personnel. Three of these individuals have been charged. Five internationals captains have also reported receiving approaches to spot-fix,” said Marshall.

“We try to link up with the intelligence. We look at what we know about this event, are we providing anti-corruption cover, are we already there or is it being provided by another party? Are there any other strands of intelligence we have about that tournament. Is there anything about financial backers or the people surrounding the tournament are suspicious?” he added.

However, with corruption making its rise gradually in the game of cricket, International Cricket Council should strict their laws and improve the security of the players to stay away from those sorts of the things.
