It looks like not only the fans but also some women cricketers are also disappointed after it got confirmed Virat Kohli would not play for Surrey in June.

Early this month, the India skipper had signed a deal with the county outfit to represent them for the entire June.

Kohli had decided in order to prepare for the upcoming tour of England. However, destiny had planned something else, as a neck injury brutally quashed Kohli’s desire to prepare for the England tour.

The BCCI, on Thursday, confirmed the news through a statement. The board revealed Kohli sustained the injury during an IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kohli had picked up the injury while fielding in the game played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17. The BCCI medical team assessed the India captain and following subsequent scans and a special visit, advised him to undergo a period of rehabilitation under the supervision of the same team.

The BCCI release made it clear Kohli would be at the NCA at least until June 15 when he undergoes a fitness test.

“He will begin training and subsequently undergo a fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru from June 15. The BCCI Medical Team is confident that Kohli will regain full fitness ahead of India’s upcoming tours to Ireland and England,” the release stated.
