Cricket Australia (CA) is one among the big three in world cricket apart from BCCI and ECB. This means it earns a whole lot of money at the international level from cricket. This is the reason why Australia pays its captains a considerably huge sum of money.

Australia’s Test skipper Tim Paine and ODI and T20I captain, Aaron Finch earn a total of Rs. 4.87 crore per annum. This surely goes on to indicate the huge sum of money that Cricket Australia pays to its captains.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is one of the poorest boards in world cricket. It has had a fall out with the players for their salary on multiple occasions. This is the reason behind West Indies’ failure in World Cricket in recent times as their key players rejected to play for their national side.

Windies’ captain Jason Holder does not earn a lot of money for the turmoil that he puts in. The West Indies Cricket Board pay him an annual sum of Rs. 1.85 crore.

Although Cricket South Africa (CSA) does not pay its players on a very high scale, and it can be said that the Proteas earn an average salary if we consider the global stage.

While South Africa’s limited-overs captain, Quinton de Kock earns a total of Rs. 3.2 crore annually, their Test captain, Faf du Plessis earns a total of Rs. 2.5 crore per annum.

It is noteworthy that Cricket South Africa earns a handsome amount of money. Still, its payscale does not reflect the same.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in a dismal state at the moment. The absence of international cricket from their country for the past 10-11 years has cost them a lot financially. This has directly affected the board’s revenue.

This could be the probable reason as to why their players and captains are not getting a fair remuneration for their toil.

PCB pays a total of Rs. 1.44 crore to its limited-overs captain Babar Azam. On the other hand, the Test captain, Azhar Ali receives a sum of Rs. 96 lakh per annum.

Kane Williamson:

Cricket in New Zealand is progressing day by day. A rise in its revenue is constant over a while now and the cricketers have had their fair share of hand in the growth of the sport in the country.

However, one of the biggest contributions is indeed made by their captain Kane Williamson. It was under his captaincy that New Zealand reached the final of two consecutive ICC Cricket World Cups.

Although, they lost both the finals but reaching there was in itself a rare achievement. Thus, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) takes great care of its skipper by paying him an annual sum of Rs. 3.17 crore.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the richest board in world cricket. Cricket is the most popular sport in the nation and it fetches well to the board and the team.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman in world cricket at the moment.

This is the reason why BCCI has kept him in A+ category of players in the Annual Contracts List and pay him Rs.7 crore annually.

This indeed is a whopping sum of money that the Indian captain gets for playing cricket at the international level.

England is the country where cricket was born. It is also among one of the big three in international cricket. Cricket is a famous sport throughout the nation and the board earns a lot of revenue through it. Bars raised high when they won their maiden World Cup last year at home.

England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan earns Rs. 2.56 crore annually.

However, their Test captain Joe Root is by far the highest-paid captain in world cricket as the England Cricket Board pays him an annual sum of Rs. 8.15 crore. He beats Indian skipper Virat Kohli on the list too as he earns a jaw-dropping sum of money.

However, Virat Kohli has a lot of business apart from cricket. He is also involved in brand endorsements of brands all across the globe. He is the brand ambassador of various global brands and this makes him the richest cricketer in world cricket at the moment.
