Former Australian head coach Justin Langer slammed England pacer Ollie Robinson for his antics in the Edgbaston Test of the Ashes 2023. He lashed out at the fast bowler for his send-off to Usman Khawaja, a jibe at Ricky Ponting and his three No.11’s comment, saying that “junkyard dogs tend to bark”.

Ollie Robinson has been touted as the villain by Australian fans following his antics in the first Test of Ashes 2023. The English pacer was criticised by many for his send-off to Usman Khawaja in the first innings. The Australian batter batted for almost four sessions and scored 141 runs.

But after Ollie Robinson removed him, he was pumped up and gave him an arrogant send-off. He was seen yelling “F*** off, you f***ing pr**k” directly at Khawaja. Not only this he also took a dig at Ricky Ponting when he was asked by his send-off to the Australian batter.

If this was not enough, Ollie Robinson took a jibe at the Australian lower order as well as he said that the opposition has three No.11’s on their side and they can go past them easily. Eventually, that didn’t happen as the lower order won Australia the game when it seemed that they would lose.

Justin Langer said that more than a send-off to Usman Khawaja, he was surprised how Ollie Robinson took a crack at Ricky Ponting. Calling him a silly boy, he said that there was always going to be a backlash.

Writing in his column for Telegraph, he said: “When I woke up to the press, my eyebrows were raised at more than the Khawaja spat. I grinned, shook my head and thought ‘silly boy’. I had a pretty good idea what was going to happen next,”

“Sledge ex-captain Ponting, the much-loved little master of Australia, and there is always going to be a backlash. You’re taking on an entire country here.”

Ashes 2023: “Junk-yard dogs tend to bark.” Justin Langer on Ollie Robinson

Justin Langer further lashed out at Ollie Robinson for his comments. Calling him a junkyard dog, he highlighted how Australia’s three No.11 won the game.

He explained: “It’s OK to have a chat, but make sure you back it up. A send-off, a crack at a legend and a prediction of “three No 11’s” when those same ‘bunnies’ hit the winning runs. Junk-yard dogs tend to bark.”

Coming to the match, England suffered a disappointing 2-wicket loss. Pat Cummins played an exceptional knock of unbeaten 44 runs and won the game for his side. England would be hoping for a better result in the second match. The second Test of the Ashes 2023 is slated to take place at Lord’s in London. The game is scheduled to be taken place on 28th June.
