Asia Cup 2018: Angry Fans Slam KL Rahul For Wasting Review As MS Dhoni Falls Prey To Poor Decision

The fans berated India opener KL Rahul after his poor review against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. The reason behind the fans’ anguish was that MS Dhoni could not review a poor decision from the umpire after being given out although the ball was missing the stumps.

Tuesday was a day to remember for the MS Dhoni faithful. After a long gap of 696 days, they saw Dhoni leading India again. With a spot in the final sealed, India rested several regulars including skipper Rohit Sharma. But the joy was short-lived after Dhoni came out to bat in probably his last innings as India skipper.

He got out LBW on 8 runs off Javed Ahmadi. However, the replay showed that the ball was missing the leg stump. But with no review available, Dhoni could not challenge the on-field umpire’s decision.

And the fans did not take long to slam Rahul even though he scored 60. Here are some of the reactions:

Coming to the game, it ended in a thrilling tie.  Batting first, Afghanistan scored 252 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs. Mohammad Shahzad and Mohammad Nabi starred with the bat for them. While Shahzad’s 124 set the platform early on, Nabi’s quick 64 helped Afghanistan finish on a good note.

In reply, the Men in Blue were off to a solid start with Rahul (60) and Ambati Rayudu (57) adding 110 runs for the first wicket. Dinesh Karthik scored 44 from No.3 as India looked set to chase down the total with ease. However, India kept on losing wickets at regular intervals from thereon and were bowled out for 252 off the penultimate ball of the game.

Needing just seven runs off the final over, the Indian team scored six runs off the first four balls to level the score. But on the fifth ball, Rashid Khan got the better of Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as India were all out for 252.
