Who would have expected that wrist spinners will rule the world cricket? Of late, they have been the force to reckon, and every team made sure of having at least one player in their respective team. Meanwhile, the former spinners also placed their bet on the wrist spinners for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The UAE pitches have always been supportive for the fast bowlers but, of late, the spinners enjoyed quite a success.

Each team got the world-class bowlers to change it for the team with their magical wrists. Perhaps, the former spinners have called it right.

India has the best spin attack in upcoming Asia Cup 2018 – Arshad Ayub

The former spinner for India, Arshad Ayub feels Indian team has got the best spin attack in the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. He added that their performance will directly affect the result for the Indian team.

Further, Ayub backed the spinners for their ordinary performances in the England tour. He added that the spinners need to understand and rectify their mistakes to come good for India in the Asia Cup 2018.

“I must say they have been brilliant. But against England (in the last two ODIs), I think they put extra pressure on themselves. They were pitching it too up or too short. And they were not really bowling a consistent line. They need to understand that they’ll not get four-five wickets every match” said Ayub, who took 41 wickets in 13 Tests between 1987-89.

“The tournament (Asia Cup) presents a good opportunity to rectify their mistakes. For me, India has the best spin attack among all teams and I’m sure they’ll come out on top,” Ayub added.

Maninder Singh highlights errors in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal:

Meanwhile, Maninder Singh felt that Kuldeep Yadav has got the problem with his front hand. He added that it will reduce the speed on the ball for Kuldeep while Chahal puts himself under pressure while reading the batsman too much.

“His (Kuldeep) front arm drops down too early. The bowling arm gets the strength from the front arm. He’s trying to generate all power from his bowling arm, which will not reap dividends on a consistent basis. He needs to work on this aspect,” said Maninder, who took 88 wickets in 35 Tests.

“As for Chahal, he’s trying to read the batsmen too much and that’s why he wasn’t effective in England. It would be better that he sticks to his basics,” he inferred.

However, as the former spinners said, it is going to be very exciting to watch the wrist spinners in action for Aisa Cup 2018.

India got Chahal and Kuldeep, Pakistan got Shadab Khan, Afghanistan got Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman while Sri Lanka got Akila Dananjaya. All are ruling the world cricket.
