Australia opener Usman Khawaja achieved a massive feat in the Ashes. The southpaw became the first opening batter from his country since 1977 to score around 500 runs in the Test series against England after his blistering in the ongoing 5th game at The Oval.
Usman Khawaja had a terrific series in England as he was the mainstay of the Australian cricket team throughout the series and has been rock solid for his side at the top and has provided them with great starts in almost every innings in the ongoing Ashes 2023.

Usman Khawaja ended the series with 496 runs to his name, which is the highest by an Australian opener since Matthew Elliot, who scored 556 runs in the 1997 Ashes. The Australian batter also ended the series as the highest run-getter in the series and his tally of 496 runs included one century and three half-centuries as well.
Usman Khawaja was on the verge of breaking the massive record of Don Bradman as well as he felt just 4 runs short of it. Had he scored 500 runs he would’ve become the oldest Australian since the great Don Bradman to score 500 runs in an Ashes series. He is also the second Australian in this century to score 500 runs in an away Ashes series after Steve Smith.
