Ahead of the first Test in Adelaide, the place of Ravichandran Ashwin was under the scanner for his previous records in Australia. However, there could be no more pressure on him, as he delivered the goods when it mattered the most. Meanwhile, Boria Majumdar and Michael Clarke had a quick conversation over the difference between Ashwin and Nathan Lyon.
Majumdar pointed out that Ravichandran Ashwin was superb in the first innings of the game. However, when it comes to the second innings, he wasn’t as effective as Nathan Lyon, who picked six. Meanwhile, he also brought Moeen Ali into the scene as well.

”Hey, mate Michael Clarke while Ash is superb in the first innings he isn’t as effective in the second. Is it because the wicket got slower and there weren’t too many balls on the rough from him? Moeen and Nathan Lyon consistently used the rough in Southampton and here,” Boria Majumdar asked Michael Clarke.

Ravichandran Ashwin built pressure – Michael Clarke
In reply, Michael Clarke felt Ravichandran Ashwin was as brilliant as Nathan Lyon. He thinks scorecard hasn’t reflected that, but Ashwin’s continuous pressure helped the Indian bowlers wrap up things quickly.

”I thought he was very good in both innings mate- only 4x bowlers so he had to bowl a lot of overs. Even though he didn’t take 6 like Lyon he built pressure for the fast bowlers up the other end. Both spinners were superb,”Clarke added.

Well, as Michael Clarke said, Ravichandran Ashwin has been pretty clinical in his approach. Though he failed to strike the wicket quickly on day five, Ashwin kept things in control for team India.
All in all, it was one of those Test matches, which Ashwin would remember for a long time. As far as his previous records in Australia are concerned, it was a happy return for the off-spinner.
