It seems like the troubles are continuing for Steven Smith in his return to the International Cricket. When he is on verge of concluding his ban period, he struck with an elbow injury, which kept him away from the game. Meanwhile, the reports emerged that he would miss the ICC World Cup 2019. However, the Australian manager denies those reports.

The former Australian captain was playing the Bangladesh Premier League for the Comilla Victorians when he aggravated an old injury on his right elbow on 11 January 2019. He subsequently underwent surgery in Australia and needed to wear an arm brace for six weeks before undergoing extensive rehabilitation.

With his ban ending on 28 March, Smith was expected to make his international comeback in the ODI series against Pakistan in the UAE in March before turning up for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

But, that is not going to be the case for the Australian batsman with the latest injury. He might miss the series against Pakistan. But, there is a good chance for him to return in the ODI series against India, as per the knowledge of the team manager Craig.

”Until the brace comes off we don’t know for sure but all current opinion is that he’ll then have about three and a half weeks [before being ready to play],” Craig told cricket.com.au. The intent is that he will play in the IPL and then the World Cup and then the Ashes.”

The Australian National Team is badly missing the services of Steven Smith, across the formats. They recently lost a Test series against India for the first time in the cricketing history. The absence of Steven Smith has been one of the major factors for Australia, who scored mammoth tallies against India.

Well, it would be interesting to see how Steven Smith would manage things. Most probably, he would be eyeing to play in the Indian Premier League 2019 in order to get into his zone ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019 defence.
