Australian Cricket team all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has hailed Indian National Cricket team vice-captain Rohit Sharma following his scintillating knock in the first ODI at Sydney. Despite Rohit’s valiant efforts, India went down by 34 runs in the three-match series.

Chasing a massive target of 289 runs, India lost their first three wickets within four runs. Since then, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni slowly stitched a partnership because another wicket at that point would have ended India’s little chances. However, Rohit slowly started to open up and play his shots while Dhoni struggled. Although Dhoni departed soon reaching his half-century as India kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

Rohit Sharma, on the other end, continued to play his shots as he brought his 22nd ODI hundred. But his valiant efforts with the bat couldn’t save India from losing. However, Glenn Maxwell, who got little opportunity to showcase his talent in the opening game with the bat shared high praise on Rohit.

The dashing all-rounder from Australia admitted that the Mumbai batsman is good both against pace and spin and things look easy when he is in the middle. In addition to, Maxwell also note that Rohit Sharma looks effortless while hitting the ball.

He is effortless (while) hitting. He seems to have a lot more time than other players, makes it look easy. I suppose that is the joy of watching him. The game has looked easy when he is out there batting and he hits the ball as he likes. He is good against pace and spin and hits the ball miles when he wants to,” Maxwell said while speaking to Direct Hit.

This guy, you can’t stop him. He is quite chilled and relaxed. He doesn’t let things faze him. That’s for sure. Most of the times I had to deal with him, he’s been so chilled out. I suppose that’s one of his strengths, especially while facing the new ball,” Maxwell further added.
