India’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal finally got his chance in the playing XI and didn’t the leg-spinner grabbed his chance with both hands. Chahal scalped six wickets for 42 runs which are his best bowling figures in the ODI format. These are the best bowling figures for any spinner while playing against Australia in Australia.
Furthermore, 6-42 are the best bowling figures for any Indian bowler while playing against Australia in Australia. In fact, Chahal has now joined Ajit Agarkar who also took 6-42 while playing at the same ground of MCG in 2004.
Chahal was at his best.
Meanwhile, Chahal got his first wicket when Shaun Marsh advanced down the wicket to him. Chahal bowled down the leg-side and MS Dhoni did a good job in taking out the bails before Marsh could get back his bat into the crease. It was a crucial wicket as the southpaw batsman had scored a brilliant hundred in the previous match at Adelaide.
Furthermore, the second wicket was a soft dismissal when Usman Khawaja got a top edge to give caught and bowl to the bowler. Chahal was able to square Australia’s all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and produced the outside edge. Subsequently, Rohit Sharma took a good low catch while fielding at first slip.
Meanwhile, Chahal was once again able to strike in his second spell. He was able to plumb Peter Handscomb in front of the wickets. Handscomb went back in his crease and he was right in front of the stumps. Chahal also got the wicket of Jhye Richardson and Adam Zampa.
On the other hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami scalped two wickets each. India has restricted Australia to a paltry score of 230 runs in the decider of the three-match series.
Here is how Twitter praised Yuzvendra Chahal for taking his best bowling figures:

Great effort from the Indian bowlers to bowl out Australia for 230. @yuzi_chahal was outstanding to pick up 6 wickets. Now for our batsman to chase this and win the one day series as well.
