The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni is lucky to be batting out there in the middle in the ongoing third and final ODI against Australia. Dhoni gave a charge to Australia’s fast bowler Peter Siddle. However, Dhoni could not get the connection that he was looking for. In fact, the right-hander got an inside edge which was neatly taken by Australia’s wicket-keeper Alex Carey.

Meanwhile, surprisingly the Australian fielder didn’t hear the noise of the edge. Peter Siddle asked the umpire whether there was a nick but there was no support from the other players. Dhoni decided not to walk and had a lucky escape as Finch decided not to review the decision.

Dhoni would like to take India over the line.

In fact, MS Dhoni was given a life on the first ball he faced against Marcus Stoinis. The former skipper played a cut shot which went straight to the point fielder, Glenn Maxwell. Australia’s all-rounder who is one of the best fielders in the world, fluffed a simple catch as the wicket-keeper batsman had the rub of the green on his side.

Dhoni had another reprieve when he ran down to the middle of the pitch. India’s captain Virat Kohli was ball watching and didn’t pay heed to his partner’s call. However, the gloveman was able to make his ground just in time.

In fact, there was one more instance when Dhoni called for the single and then turned his back towards Virat Kohli. Aaron Finch could not hit the bullseye and Kohli had survived. Meanwhile, Jhye Richardson was able to take Virat Kohli’s wicket for the third time in the series when he invited a drive from Indian skipper.

Kohli went for the bait and chased down the ball which was at the fifth stump line. Richardson got the outside edge and Carey took a good catch to his right. Thus, now the onus is on MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav who are batting out in the middle.
