As per the stats, vigorous Virat Kohli has been the best skipper, India has ever had. He has been brilliant against top-class sides at home and away. Recently, he became the only Indian skipper to clinch the first Test of the series against Australia (in Australia) at Adelaide. Meanwhile, the former Australian great Ian Chappell speaks about a supreme leader, Kohli.

Over the years, Kohli not only improved as the batsman but also emerged as a brilliant candidate in leading the side. He is currently marshalling the troops across the formats. As of now, went on to achieve a fair bit of success for Team India.

Like all other modern skippers, Kohli allows easy singles – Ian Chappell

Speaking of the Kohli’s captaincy, Chappell reiterated that he is a decent captain. However, he has got his issue with the Indian skipper. He feels that Kohli, like any other modern-day skipper, allows easy singles to the batsmen with defensive fielding tactics.

Further, he also spoke on Tim Paine’s captaincy. Chappell believes that Paine is the right candidate to lead Australia at present. He also remarked that Paine is excellent with his glovework and even brilliant with his willow.

“I think Kohli is a good captain. Like all modern captains, he sets deep fielders too often. He gives easy singles to batsmen. If you give good batsmen easy singles early in their innings you can quite often pay a hefty price for that,” Chappell told ESPNCricinfo.

“Tim Paine is the right bloke to captain Australia at the moment. He is a good enough wicket-keeper to hold his place. Plus he bats pretty well in Test cricket,” Chappell added.

Well, it is an interesting comment from Chappell on Kohli’s captaincy. Meanwhile, both the sides are gearing up themselves for the second Test scheduled at Perth on December 14. Once again, India will be favourites to win the game.
