It seems like the batting coach of Australia Graeme Hick isn’t impressed with the comments by Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne on Peter Handscomb. Recently, the legendary duo quoted that Peter Handscomb’s batting technique will not allow him to sustain in International Cricket, especially, in Test format of the game.

Peter Handscomb missed a fuller length delivery from Ishant Sharma thus being trapped LBW plumb in front of the wicket. As soon as Handscomb dismissed, Shane Warne and Ponting suggested that the youngster need to change his technique.

There is no point for Peter Handscomb in batting like someone else – Graeme Hick

Graeme Hick believes that Peter Handscomb can survive at the highest level with a little modification to his batting. He doesn’t want Handscomb to bat like someone else by leaving away his own technique, which pushed him to the highest level.

Hick is convinced with the poor front foot batting by Peter. But, instead of changing everything, Hick wants Handscomb to work on certain aspects of his game rather than going back, where it all started.

“He’s really strong-minded about the way he wants to play his game,” Hick told SEN radio on Monday. He started his Test career and had success against Pakistan and like everyone, every side does their homework, everything’s analysed, everything down to where you’re going to pitch the ball. I didn’t chat with him yesterday because he was disappointed, but I’ll have a chat with him this morning and just see what way he wants to take it from here.”

“He’s sort of toying with it because he’s had a good start to the Shield season, obviously international cricket’s a different level. Knowing Pete there’s a good chance he’ll back himself the way he plays. At the end of the day, he’s out there making the decision. So, there’s no point in him going out there and trying to bat like someone else,” he added.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would pan out for Peter Handscomb. As of now, it seems like Peter Handscomb is in a trouble, as far as the selection for the Third Test is concerned. Mitchell Marsh is eagerly waiting to take his role.
