Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa had come under the scanner when he was seen put his hand in his pocket and then rubbed the ball. Thus, Zampa was alleged to tamper with the ball. However, it is now clear that Adam Zampa did not alter the condition of the ball in the second ODI against South Africa.
In fact, Adam Zampa was using a hand warmer while bowling in the previous match. A bowler uses a hand warmer to keep his hands warm to get a good grip on the ball. Similarly, Zampa was also doing the same. Meanwhile, we have seen the slip fielders also putting their hands in the chilly conditions to keep their hands warm.
However, when Zampa had rubbed off the ball after taking out his hand from the pocket, it had raised doubt over the authenticity. The leg-spinner had gone wicketless in the second ODI and gave away 57 runs.
Meanwhile, Australia is already hit hard by the ball-tampering scandal. Thus, they cannot afford to deal with another big controversy. David Warner and Steven Smith are serving one year ban because of the ball tampering scandal whereas Cameron Bancroft was banned for nine months. Therefore, Australia has touched a new low since the big controversy.
Meanwhile, the three-match ODI series between Australia and South Africa is tied at 1-1. South Africa was able to post a par score of 320 runs in the decider of the series.
Faf du Plessis and David Miller scored hundred to post a fine total of 320 runs on the board.
Here is the video of the incident:
