Ball-Tampering With Sugar? Watch As Old Video Of Cameron Bancroft Surfaces Online Ahead Of Test Return

Australia opener Cameron Bancroft is bound to receive a hostile reception in the upcoming Ashes series. The right-handed batsman has made it to the squad for the much-awaited Test series, starting on August 1 in Birmingham .Along with David Warner and Steve Smith, Cameron Bancroft was one of the architects of the infamous sandpaper gate last year.

Bancroft had tried to change the state of the ball with a sandpaper and was caught by the cameras. He was later banned for nine months while Smith and Warner received a one-year ban each. With Warner and Smith also in the squad, the Cape Town trio make simultaneous Test returns after more than a year.

Bancroft, who was playing county cricket for quite some time now, will be looking to hit the ground running. The right-hander made his Test debut in the last Ashes and hopes will be high from him when he opens the innings along with Warner. But as the disgraced opener is gearing up to make his Test return, a video of his has started doing the rounds on social media where he could be seen carrying out a suspicious activity.

The video shows Bancroft putting one spoon sugar in his pocket before going out to field during the Ashes Test. While the reason for the same could be different, one just cannot figure out why a player needs to keep sugar in his pocket.

Australia, meanwhile, will have a chance to retain the Ashes. However, they need to at least draw the five-match series for the same. It, however, won’t be an easy task as they have not won the Ashes in England since 2001. With England basking in the glory of World Cup success, Australia’s task will be even more tougher.
