In the second ODI against Ireland in Sylhet, Mushfiqur Rahim produced a stunning performance, scoring a century off just 60 balls. He reached this impressive milestone on the final ball of the innings, finishing on an unbeaten 100*. Coming in to bat at No.6 in the 34th over of the innings, Mushfiqur Rahim’s brilliant knock helped Bangladesh post their highest-ever total in ODIs, surpassing the 338 runs they had scored in the previous match of the series.

The match in Sylhet was witness to another high-scoring encounter, and it was during this game that Mushfiqur Rahim achieved another significant milestone – he became the third Bangladeshi batsman, after Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, to score 7000 ODI runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s hundred off just 60 balls in the second ODI against Ireland has set a new record for the fastest century by a Bangladeshi player in ODIs, surpassing Shakib Al Hasan’s previous record of a 63-ball hundred against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2009.

In the previous match at the same venue just two days earlier, Bangladesh had achieved their then-highest score of 338 in ODIs, beating their previous best of 333 against Australia in the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

In that match, Bangladesh had secured a massive 183-run victory, their largest ever in terms of runs. In the second ODI, Bangladesh improved upon their previous total by scoring a remarkable 349/6, largely thanks to the stunning century by Mushfiqur Rahim, which included 14 fours and two sixes.
