Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have returned to Bangladesh’s ODI side for the three-match series against the Windies, which begins on December 9 (Sunday). Meanwhile, the duo had previously missed the ODI series against Zimbabwe due to injury.
The duo returns to boast hosts’ confidence
Moreover, the all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan had returned from a finger injury and had led the Test side to a 2-0 win over the Windies. On the other hand, Tamim Iqbal who suffered multiple injuries has taken longer to get back on the field. The southpaw had first fractured his wrist during the Asia Cup 2018 in September and then had missed the Windies Tests due to a side strain as well.
Meanwhile, the inclusion of these two have forced Najmul Hossain Shanto and Fazle Mahmud to leave out. Mahumud couldn’t perform well in the Tests and had made two ducks against Zimbabwe as well. However, with the return of Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh team management will have a problem of plenty in the top order.
However, the Tigers have to pick from Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, and Liton Das, as Tamim Iqbal’s opening partner. It is quite understood that Shakib Al Hasan will be set to bat at No. 3.
Among the other three batsmen, Imrul Kayes had a good show in recent times. He became as the top run scorer in the ODI series against Zimbabwe. The left-hander had scored 349 runs from three games including two centuries and one fifty against Zimbabwe.
