Meanwhile, there have also been instances when a player has scored within 25 deliveries on more occasions than one. Such innings and timely ones are invaluable since it provides the impetus that the team needs, especially when a side is in pursuit of a steep chase. Such knocks by even one player gives the entire team the confidence to go big during their watch.

We take a look at batsmen with the most number of half-centuries inside 25 balls in IPL:

AB De Villiers is arguably one of the giants of the game and could turn the game on his head through some innovative strokeplay. AB De Villiers operates in IPL at a strike rate of 152 and has been the heartbeat of their batting line-up since 2011. While the 36-year old is a middle-order batsman, the management has used him as a floater batsman.

De Villiers, who boasts of a vast range of strokes in his repertoire, has hit fifties within 25 deliveries on six occasions. The right-handed batsman’s latest innings came in 21 balls against Mumbai Indians last night. In 157 games, De Villiers has 4529 runs at a healthy average of 40.44. The former South African captain retired from international cricket in May 2018.

Virender Sehwag played for Delhi Daredevils and Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2015, widely known as one of the best openers. Virender Sehwag was not the quickest runner between the wickets; however, his brilliant hand-eye coordination allowed him to dispatch any ball on his zone to the boundary.

In 104 IPL games, the right-handed batsman hammered 2728 runs while maintaining a strike rate of 155.44 alongside two centuries to his credit. Like AB De Villiers, Sehwag also plundered fifties on six occasions within 25 deliveries in IPL. He also worked as a chief mentor for Kings XI Punjab.

The towering West Indian has clattered a half-century seven times within 25 balls, which is hugely credible for the position he bats at. In IPL, the 33-year old has maintained a strike rate of 148.07 in 151 games and has been part of four title victories of the franchise. David Warner leads this elusive list as he has plundered fifties eight times in IPL within 25 deliveries. The New South Wales batsman has 4748 runs in 128 IPL fixtures at a burgeoning average of 42.77.
