Coronavirus Pandemic: BCCI Suspends All Domestic Cricket Until Further Notice

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended all the domestic games in India until further notice. After suspending the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, this is another major action taken against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Apart from it, the remaining two ODIs between India and South Africa that were to be held in Lucknow in Kolkata on March 15 and March 18 respectively have also been called off.

BCCI has suspended all domestic tournaments until further notice as a precautionary measure in the wake of the deadly coronavirus that has been spreading in the country and worldwide at a rapid pace.

“In view of the ongoing Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) outbreak, the BCCI on Saturday announced that all matches of the Paytm Irani Cup, Senior Women One-Day Knockout, Vizzy Trophy, Senior Women One-Day Challenger, Women Under 19 One-Day knockout, Women’s Under 19 T20 League, Super League and knockout, Women Under 19 T20 Challenger Trophy, Women Under 23 knockout, Women’s Under 23 One-Day Challenger have been put on hold till further notice,” BCCI said in a statement.

Major Cricketing Events Come To A Hold After Coronavirus

The IPL 2020 has been postponed till April 15 due to the coronavirus outbreak. To the disappointment of the cricket fans, the India-South Africa ODI series has also been called off.

Apart from it, the Road Safety World Series has also been suspended.

All the English players playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have been called back immediately and the tournament now faces a high chance of being postponed despite PCB sticking to continue the remainder of the fixtures.
