Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth’s cricketing woes declines to take a breather. On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opposed cricketer’s plea seeking a relaxation on the lifetime ban which has been imposed on him by the apex cricketing body.

The pacer from Kerala wants to play County cricket in England but his efforts haven’t resulted much so far.

Senior Counsel Parag Tripathi told the Supreme Court bench headed by the Chief Justice Dipak Misra that the BCCI has appealed against the order discharging the tainted cricketer who was involved in the spot-fixing scandal, back in 2013.

Sreesanth’s mixed fortunes:

Tripathi told the court an inquiry has found the cricketer guilty as he was in touch with a bookie.

During an investigation bid, the Delhi police had arrested Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) colleague Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. Sreesanth has gone to the High Court challenging the life ban that has kept the cricketer out of action.

During the last hearing on this case, on February 5, senior counsel Salman Khurshid requested the court to allow him to play cricket in England for the remainder of the season.

The ups and downs in the last five years:

It has been an up and down ride for the cricketer since the scandal broke out. He has been down the dumps and often shared his sorrows with the world.

“The worst thing to happen as a cricketer, living just behind the international stadium, and you are not allowed there. Even an Under-14 kid who respects you goes to the stadium and I was not allowed. I went through a lot of things but that’s past… would love to go tomorrow and run there.” Telegraph quotes Sreesanth in 2015.

“I will try to start training properly as soon as possible. Hopefully, I can get permission from BCCI to use their facilities so that I can get fit and come into the selection process.” an optimistic Sreesanth before the BCCI challenged the verdict year’s back.
