In response to the COVID-19 outbreak all over the world, the requisite rules have become quite apparent and mandatory. However, Ben Stokes and Jason Holder seemed to have forgotten as both the players had a cheeky moment during the toss ahead of the much-anticipated Test match between England and West Indies. The Rose Bowl or Ageas Bowl in Southampton played as the host for the first of the three Tests between the two sides.

Former England all-rounder Ian Botham facilitated the toss between the two sides. After the coin fell in favour of Ben Stokes, Holder and Stokes reached out to shake hands as a customary tradition. Apparently, the star all-rounders forgot the norms of social distancing imposed by medical professionals and government around the globe. However, Stokes and Holder shared a mighty laugh between them as they backed out their hands.

When penning this down, England stood at 34-1 after 15.4 overs in a rain-curtailed encounter. Dom Sibley fell to a peach of a delivery from Shannon Gabriel while Rory Burns and Joe Denly steadied the ship, trying to see off the new ball. Joe Denly has been under a reasonable amount of pressure, having not notched up a century so far in Tests.

The speculations of Stuart Broad’s axing from the first Test indeed came out to be true as England wielded the axe on him. The hosts went for three frontline pacemen in James Anderson, Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood while Dom Bess occupies the lone spinner’s spot.

On the other hand, the tourists left out spinner and all-rounder Rahkheem Cornwall and opted for an all-pace attack. West Indies have selected Kemar Roach, Alazarri Joseph, and Shannon Gabriel while skipper Jason Holder is also a potent seamer in their ranks.
