England have grown themselves to a dominant position in the ongoing second Test in Manchester against the West Indies. Ben Stokes and Dom Sibley have raised a partnership of more than 200 runs between them currently to put them in a winning spot and get them to a series-levelling win. Amid their monumental stand, Stokes played a flamboyant shot for a six.

Ben Stokes is arguably one of the best all-rounders today across formats, who can play according to the situation. On day one, the hosts found themselves on the back foot, losing Rory Burns before lunch and Zak Crawley after it. While Sibley and Joe Root sparked a mini-recovery with a 52-run stand, Alzarri Joseph bought the wicket of Root out of nowhere, which again pegged them back, reducing them to 81-3.

Nevertheless, Stokes and Sibley joined hands and patiently added 126 runs to make it England’s day eventually. Meanwhile, the tremendous strike off Ben Stokes’ blade came in the second ball of the 115th over, bowled by Alzarri Joseph. Joseph bowled a full delivery to the southpaw, which he lofted handsomely towards long-on, clearing the boundary comfortably. While from the looks of it, it looked like a four, the sweet sound from Ben Stokes’ bat almost confirmed it was a maximum.

Ahead of the must-win game, the home side carried a complete overhaul of their fast-bowling attack. They rested the likes of Mark Wood and James Anderson while Jofra Archer missed out due to breaching the bio-security protocols. The fresh legs of Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, and Stuart Broad will play in the second Test. The fourth change came in the form of Joe Denly, who made room for Root.
