Australian batsman David Warner, who his plying his trade for the Sylhet Sixers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), surprised one and sundry with his brilliant hitting changing into a right-hander. Warner, whose ban ends in March has already sent out a message to the national selectors.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia suspended David Warner along with Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal in Cape Town last year. The trio accepted the sanctions and didn’t take part in any international games and in Australia’s domestic tournaments. However, Warner and Smith featured in the Caribbean Premier League and in Global T20 Canada.

The incident took place in the 19th over after David Warner failed to pick Gayle’s delivery. In the next ball, the southpaw turned right-handed and smacked Chris Gayle round the park. Instead of rotating sides and changing his stance midway through the bowler’s run-up, Warner faced Gayle’s off-spin as a pure right-hander, grip and all, and managed to send the ball sailing, collecting one six and two fours, capping it with a punch of his fists as he looked pumped up.

Incidentally, David Warner, grew up playing golf as a right-hander because there were only right-handed clubs at his home. He continues the trend, and like Adam Gilchrist and Stephen Fleming, plays the sport as a right-hander.

David Warner accounted for an unbeaten 36-ball 61 including six boundaries and two sixes. He and Liton Das (70) propelled Sylhet Sixers to 187 for five at the halfway stage. Defending a massive target, Warner marshaled his troops brilliantly to bring their second win the competition.
