Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi added yet another feather to his illustrious cap when he registered 4000 runs in T20 cricket. Meanwhile, Afridi is currently featuring in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Comilla Victorians.

Afridi smashed a fiery 39 off 25 balls to help Steve Smith’s team beat David Warner-led Sylhet Sixers in a thrilling match. His electrifying knock included five fours and a couple of sixes as his side chased down the target of 128 runs in 19.5 overs. Tamim Iqbal also provided a good start while skipper Steven Smith and Shoaib Malik made handy contributions to see off the target.

Previously, Shahid Afridi had bagged one wicket for the Victorians side from his four overs including a maiden over. Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Shahid, and Mohammad Saifuddin picked two each as Comilla restricted Sylhet Sixers to 127 for eight from their 20 overs.

Afridi, who is one of the sought-after players in T20 cricket, not just completed 4000 runs in the shortest format but also became the third all-rounder after Windies’ Dwayne Bravo and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan to scale the feat. Bravo has 6082 runs and 464 wickets to his credit while Shakib has 4455 runs and 322 wickets.

Shahid Afridi also became the fifth Pakistani player after Ahmed Shehzad (5409), Kamran Akmal (5331), Umar Akmal (5153) and Azhar Mahmood (4091) to breach the 4000-run barrier in the T20s.

Comilla Victorians will play their next game against Rangpur Riders on January 8 (Tuesday) at Dhaka.
