''Captain'' Anil Kumble Picks His Test Team, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni Make A Cut

Well, we come across the dream XI of certain players across the formats. Meanwhile a bit similar to that, Anil Kumble was also asked to name his team but with a few conditions to it. The former skipper was asked to lead the team which he picked as the best Indian players ever.  Meanwhile, they named it as the Jumbo’s Army.

Anil Kumble has to pick the players, who made their debut after 1990.  It was when Anil Kumble made his India debut. He was the designated captain, so 10 other players were to make the cut. It was the contest run by Cricketnext.

Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag to open innings:

Surprisingly, Anil Kumble asked the all-time great Rahul Dravid to open innings for India alongside the swashbuckling opening batsman Virender Sehwag. He wants depth in the middle-order, which was the only reason he asked Rahul Dravid to open the innings.

For the number 3 position, Kumble chose the current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who has been exceptional for India over the years. Meanwhile, the number 4 position was given to the great Sachin Tendulkar, who owned it for quite a few years.

Following him, Anil Kumble asked VVS Laxman to take the number 5 position. He believes that Laxman can build partnerships better than Sourav Ganguly and Azharuddin in the middle-order, which prompted him to pick VVS Laxman.

For all-rounder slot, he went with the first ICC World Cup winning skipper Kapil Dev. He feels that Kapil Dev can walk into the team even only with his batting as well. Further, he showered words of praise on him.

MS Dhoni is a complete package – Anil Kumble

Then, he picked MS Dhoni to be the wicketkeeper for his side. He feels that MS Dhoni can bring a lot to the table even in the tactical plans as well. Further, he chose Harbhajan Singh over Ravichandran Ashwin to partner him in the crime.

For the two fast bowlers, Anil Kumble went with Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath to pair up in the fast bowling section. All in all, he picked decent players to lead the team against any side.
