Chris Lynn proper shot

The cricketing career of Chris Lynn has been marred by injuries so far. Be it in the international arena or the domestic format, Lynn has found himself on the other side of some terrible injuries. Lynn wasn’t in the best of touch during the opening matches of the ongoing Big Bash League. He made full use of his reprieve in MCG after missing out the first couple of matches for the Brisbane Heat.

He blasted a 9-ball 25 runs in Heat’s first home clash against the Stars and then went on to make amends and made full use of a dropped chance and went on to smash his maiden half-century of the tournament. It was his slowest in the league but a much-needed one indeed. He remained unbeaten on 63 of 46 deliveries as his side romped home by 9 wickets and with 5.2 overs to spare. Chris Lynn, earlier today, is selected for five-match ODI series against England.

“I actually said to ‘Baz’ (Brendon McCullum), ‘That (dropped catch) could be the chance I need to get going’,” Lynn was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au after proceedings on Monday. “Hopefully it is and hopefully I can just build on this momentum now throughout the tournament. I still don’t think I’ve fired a proper shot yet, I’ve still got plenty left in the tank,” he further added.

Chris Lynn Reveals that He Hasn't Found a Proper Shot Yet

“I felt (my innings) was quite ugly tonight, but I found a way to be not out at the end and I slowly found my feet out there. My first probably 20 balls weren’t pretty. But it was some important time in the middle for me having only faced 12 balls in the tournament before tonight’s game,” Lynn said.

Meanwhile, today’s knock by Chris Lynn was the first proper workout for his shoulder since sustaining the injury.

“It feels quite good, I could probably tell you more tomorrow morning,” he said.

“I played nine holes of golf this morning to loosen up and it was feeling fine. I’m slowly getting there each game and not feeling as apprehensive and having that confidence which is the main thing.” The power-hitter further explained Brendon McCullum’s decision to promote Jimmy Pearson up the order was to take the pressure of the 25-year-old youngster who had a relative moderate outing till then with the scores of 1, 12, 43 and 7 in the Heat’s first four matches.

“We just felt Jimmy might have needed a bit of a break up there, a bit of a change-up,” Lynn said. “He’s not batting terrible but a breath of fresh air really, take the pressure off him and myself as a senior player can step up into that role and it paid dividends tonight. Jimmy will be there in the future no doubt but just for now we are changing it up a little bit,” he concluded.
