The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the tenure of the abled-administrator Professor Ratnakar Shetty as the General Manager of the Board.

It’s pertinent to mention that, the extension has been validated till March 31, 2018, by the country’s board which is further being overseen by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) appointed by the Supreme Court of India, in a bid to present the status report before the apex body.

Earlier, the contract of Shetty was bound to be expired on December 31, 2017.

According to the interim secretary of the BCCI Amitabh Choudhary made the statement, that Shetty will continue his place in the BCCI and will enjoy the services for another three months after the CoA gave the green signal.

“First of all, about the question related to Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, the CoA (Committee of Administrators) direction has come today only and his services have been extended till March 31,” Choudhary was quoted as saying by the mid-day.

Regarded as the best in the administration owing to the gentleman’s game, Shetty maintained the decorum while leading his way as the manager for the ‘Game Development’.

With the latest announcement, under the chairmanship of MSK Prasad, the squad of Team India for One-day International was named which subsequently paved the way for Shetty for being the noted manager.

Interestingly in the meeting of CoA on September 27, Shetty’s position was extended until December before MV Sridhar, who also worked for cricket operations. He passed away on October 30 early this year.

The late Sridhar is scheduled to be replaced by the former gloveman Saba Karim.

“As far as the questions is concerned of the GM (Cricket Operations), several applications had come, in this process CoA has only taken the decision and the final selection of Saba Karim is being done by CoA,” Choudhary remarked.

It’s important to state that CoA approves the positions while maintaining the record of management of the Board which is somewhat one of the most powerful boards across the globe.

“After this appointment, it won’t be fair to discuss that,” Choudhary maintained.

In 2015, Shetty was named as the advisor for ICC 2016 Twenty20 World Cup 2016.

In 2011, Shetty was also the Director of Tournament for 2011 World World Cup.
