CPL 2018: Trinbago Knight Riders Thumps Barbados Tridents by 9 Runs

In the ongoing sixth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018), an excellent batting effort from Trinbago Knight Riders helped them beat Barbados Tridents by nine runs at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad.

However, the Barbados Tridents skipper, Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bowl first. The opening pair of the Knight Riders, Colin Munro and Chris Lynn aimed to start their innings on a good note. They added 35 runs in just 2.4 overs. Meanwhile, Chemar Holder picked up the wicket of Chris Lynn and showed him the way towards the pavilion.

Furthermore, wicket-keeper batsman, Denesh Ramdin played some fantastic cricketing shots and scored 51 runs off 31 balls. Colin Munro and Denesh Ramdin stitched a partnership of 75 runs.

However, Barbados Tridents bowlers, Chemer Holder and Imran Khan each bagged with two wickets. Later, Trinbago Knight Riders skipper, Dwayne Bravo added some valuable 33 runs off his bat. They put up a score of 180 with the loss of five wickets.

Trinbago Knight Riders wicket-keeper, Denesh Ramdin scored the highest runs for his team.

However, while chasing down the target of 181 runs, Barbados Tridents opening pair Sunny Sohail and Tion Webster added 35 runs off just 4.1 overs.

However, Trinbago Knight Riders bowler, Fawad Ahmed struck the first wicket of Tion Webster, and he contributed only 16 runs off his bat.

Barbados Tridents first down, Shai Hope and Sunny Sohail couldn’t build up their partnership, and they lost the second wickets adding just 12 runs on the scoreboard. Meanwhile, wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran contributed some vital 44 runs from 32 balls. However, a good throw from Trinbago Knight Riders skipper, Dwayne Bravo made him run out.

Later, Barbados Tridents tried to pull up the score by playing some attacking shots. However, a good bowling attack from Trinbago Knight Riders Fawad Ahmed didn’t give them a chance to stay in the crease. Barbados Tridents lost the match by nine runs. Trinbago Knight Riders Fawad Ahmed got declared as the player of the match.

CPL 2018, Brief Score: Trinbago Knight Riders (Denesh Ramdin 51, Chris Lynn 29; Imran Khan 2/29) won the match to Barbados Tridents (Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope 26; Fawad Khan 3/28) by nine runs.
