On April 18, Tuesday, Rohit Sharma joined the elite club of the Indian Premier League (IPL) batsmen who have scored 6000 runs or more. The right-handed batsman accomplished this milestone during Mumbai Indians’ match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
After scoring 6000 runs, Rohit Sharma becomes part of an exclusive group of batters that includes Virat Kohli from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), David Warner from the Delhi Capitals (DC), and Shikhar Dhawan from the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) who have reached the illustrious figure.

During the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rohit Sharma required 14 runs to reach the milestone, which he accomplished while batting first after winning the toss. Notably, he took 227 IPL innings to achieve this feat, making him the slowest batsman to reach this milestone.

Rohit Sharma Etches His Name In IPL History
Rohit Sharma began his innings by taking a single, following which he struck Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a boundary towards the cover region. Later, he executed a sweeping shot against Washington Sundar, hitting the ball for another four between the fine leg and square leg areas.

Rohit Sharma achieved the landmark of 6000 IPL runs by hitting a four through a pull shot off Washington Sundar. He followed it up with three consecutive boundaries in the third over of Mumbai Indians’ innings, including a fierce cut shot. Rohit’s knock of 28 runs off 18 balls ended when he got dismissed by T Natarajan in the fifth over of the game.
Rohit Sharma has faced a batting slump in the last three seasons of the IPL. However, he recently ended his dry spell by scoring his first half-century in nearly two years. He achieved this milestone against the Delhi Capitals and interestingly, it was his first IPL fifty in 24 matches.
