Delhi Capitals (DC) got a jolt ahead of their upcoming IPL 2022 match on May 8, 2022, against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), as their dashing opener Prithvi Shaw was hospitalized ahead of the clash that is slated to be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Prithvi Shaw has been in a decent form with the bat for DC in the ongoing Indian Premier League season 15, as he has 259 runs with a best of 61 and has two half-centuries to his name at a strike rate of 159.87 with 9 sixes and 35 fours to his name in nine matches.
Shaw had also missed the Delhi Capitals’ last clash in the IPL 2022 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which saw DC defeating SRH by a decent margin, and Mandeep Singh opening the innings with David Warner, who slammed 92* against his former franchise.
After the match in a conversation with the commentators, Delhi Capitals (DC) assistant coach Shane Watson had given some information on why Prithvi Shaw had missed the game without going into the details.
He had said: “Hahaha. He would miss the next match, but he doesn’t have COVID-19 for sure. It was an important win for us as we needed two points and David Warner played his part in the game. The players will feel confident ahead of the remaining games.”

After that match, it was reported that a net bowler from DC camp had tested positive for COVID-19 and the entire contingent was asked to isolate themselves in their hotel rooms and their match against Chennai Super Kings was under doubt.
This led to many speculations about Prithvi Shaw as well, who recently posted an update on his Instagram story. Shaw himself has revealed that he is in hospital with a fever and told his fans that he’ll be back in action soon.
He posted a photo on his Instagram story with the caption reading: “Admitted in hospital & recovering from fever. Thank u all for your good wishes. Will be back in action soon.”
