CSK vs DC: Twitter Reacts As CSK Opener Devon Conway Falls 13 Runs Short Of His Maiden IPL Century

The 30-year-old New Zealand batter Devon Conway, who plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), delivered a wonderful performance for MS Dhoni and co. in the 55th match of the IPL 2022 against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, May 8 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.

Conway played the Indian Premier League 2022 opener for Chennai Super Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders and after that game, he was dropped from the playing XI. Also, he took a break from the IPL 2022 for traveling to South Africa for his wedding and since returning he has been incredible form.

He made a comeback in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 1 and played a sensational 85* runs knock to help his team clinch the victory. In his second comeback game, he smashed 56 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore but he was unable to help CSK win the game.

Meanwhile, in the game against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals, he once again provided Chennai Super Kings with a great start. He smashed his third consecutive fifty of the season off 27 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Also, proteas pacer Anrich Nortje broke the 110-run partnership between the CSK openers by dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad for 41 in the 11th over.

Notably, since Devon Conway’s return to the side, CSK’s opening stands have been brilliant. The openers have had two hundred partnerships ( 182 runs vs SRH and 110 runs vs Delhi Capitals) and a half-century partnership (54 runs vs RCB).

At one stage it looked like the CSK opener will complete his century but left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed was able to dismiss Devon Conway on the third ball of the 17th over to make sure that the CSK opener doesn’t score his maiden IPL century. Conway’s innings ended at 87 runs off 49 balls, including 7 fours and 5 sixes.
