The South African batsman, David Miller, who is a joint owner of the fastest century in T20I cricket, congratulated Rohit Sharma for his knock. Rohit, yesterday, equalled Miller’s record of fastest century in T20I cricket when he touched the 100 run mark in 35 balls. Rohit went on to play an innings of 118 off just 43 deliveries.

Miller congratulated Rohit and wrote –

Talking of Miller’s knock, he achieved the record against Bangladesh in October this year. Before Miller, his former teammate, Richard Levi owned the record who had touched three-figure mark in 45 balls against  New Zealand in 2012. Miller took ten deliveries less than Levi.

Miler’s knock comprised of a total of seven fours and nine sixes. Enroute to fastest century in T20I cricket, Miller smashed five consecutive sixes in the 19th over of the game off Rubel Hossain. He could have become just the second batsman after Yuvraj Singh to hit six sixes in an over, but he could just manage a single off the last delivery. Miller came to the crease in the 10th over of the game.

Talking of Rohit’s innings, contrary to his style of play, he took charge right from the start and started hitting the ball out of the park. He touched the 50 run mark in 23 deliveries and next 12 deliveries, he reached the record ton.

Talking of the team’s total, India (260 runs) posted a total 36 runs more than what South Africa (224 runs) posted. The prime reason for the difference was that Rohit had accelerated team India’s innings right from the start whereas South Africa received a boost after ten over. Until then, they were at a score of 78 before Miller’s arrival.
