In the same year, he led Australia to a 5-0 Ashes whitewash.  The legendary batsman brought down curtains on his illustrious career at the end of the Test series against South Africa in the 2012-13 home season.

And as soon as ICC announced Ponting’s name, Warner took to Instagram to wish him. Calling Ponting his hero and legend, Warner wrote,

“I had the honour and privilege of playing alongside this great. Absolute legend and hero of mine and a lot of people around the world. Well done and congratulations on being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame mate.”
