Steve Smith Or Virat Kohli? David Warner Settles The Best Batsman Debate

Australian opening batsman David Warner has opened up on the best batsman debate between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has managed to rule over the world, the world would get to witness a pulsating Test series between Australia and India down under later this year. And David Warner is amongst millions, who feel that Steve Smith and Virat Kohli would engage in a mouth-watering clash over four Tests.

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are undeniably the mainstays of their teams’ batting department, irrespective of the format. While Smith marginally edges Virat in whites, mainly because how he performed in the 2019 Ashes against England even after being out of Test cricket for more than a year. He is also the number one Test batsman. On the other hand, the Indian captain remains well ahead in white-ball cricket, averaging over 50 in T20Is, Tests, and ODIs.

While the former Australian captain has played plenty of innings of note in coloured clothing for his side, he has plenty of catching up to do. As far as David Warner is concerned, the pair is the best there is across all three formats. Warner added by admitting that it’s going to be an epic battle between them and he is thoroughly looking forward to the same. Both Steve Smith and David Warner would be part of the upcoming series, unlike the last time.

“They are obviously two of the best batters in the world across all three formats. It is going to be a great battle between them if that’s what people are anticipating.” the 33-year old David Warner stated as quoted by India Today.

At the same time, the little dynamite brushed aside individual battles and prefers looking it as a team to team face-off. David Warner asserts that they know how to use their conditions to their advantage and what lengths to bowl on the Aussie pitches. The explosive left-handed batsman hopes for a high-voltage contest between bat and ball as well as upholding the spirit of the game.

For us, it’s about Australia vs India, we don’t look at individual battles. If it’s individual, it’s bowler vs batter. At the end of the day, we have to do our research well. We know our line and lengths to bowl in Australia. Use our conditions right. Hopefully, the contest is great between bat and ball and great spirit of cricket battle as well.” the New South Wales batsman added.
