The coronavirus outbreak has indeed caused a host of troubles all over the country. Due to the Indian authorities suspending the issue of visas to outsiders in a bid to control the spreading, the upcoming season of Indian Premier League may not be a successful event. With regards to that, Australian and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opening batsman David Warner may miss out on being part of the thirteenth edition. Reportedly, Warner’s visa application has been rejected without disclosing a specific reason for the same.

The BCCI officials are expected to come together and take control of the matter as a franchise would surely not want to miss a player as crucial as Warner. The little dynamite was reinstated as the captain of the team a few weeks back, replacing Kane Williamson. The 33-year old ushered the franchise to their maiden IPL title in 2016. It is also to be noted that Cricket Australia has given a free hand to their players.

He couldn’t play the lucrative league in 2018, having faced a ban from Cricket Australia due to the ball-tampering saga. Warner returned in 2019 and finished as the competition’s leading run-getter with 692 runs in 11 fixtures. Earlier, Trevor Bayliss was named as their new coach and Brad Haddin joined him as the assistant coach.

IPL governing council to meet on the 14th of March to make the final call:

Amidst the deadly virus spreading fast, it seems unlikely that the IPL would get cancelled. Although, IPL’s Governing Council is understood to meet on Saturday to take the final decision on its proceedings. BCCI is closely tracking the situation and has already confirmed that no spectator would be allowed to watch the remaining two ODIs between India and South Africa in Lucknow and Kolkata respectively.

The same also applies for the final day of the Ranji Trophy 2019/20. As per the original schedule, the tournament is set to begin on the 29th of March in Mumbai with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings.
