Day-Night Test In Adelaide To Kick-off Australia vs India Test Series

The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia will kick-start with a Day-Night Test at the Adelaide Oval later this year. Team India will fly to Australia after the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2o2o ends on November 10.

The Test series will mark Team India’s return to international cricket. The Virat Kohli-led side has not played a game since March when action around the world came to a standstill due to the coronavirus outbreak. The day-night Test in Adelaide will be India’s first pink-ball Test on foreign soil.

The day-night Test match will be played between December 17 and 21 while the remaining three Tests will be held in Melbourne (December 26-30), Sydney (January 7-11) and Brisbane (January 15-19). The Tests will be preceded by the 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is but the scheduled for the limited-overs leg is yet to be confirmed by Cricket Australia.

Virat Kohli & Co. will look to come up with a similar performance that saw them register a historic Test series during the 2018/19 tour. India had defeated Australia 2-1 to not only retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy but also registered their first ever Test series win on the Australian soil.

The Men in Blue had also won the ODI series by the same margin while the 3-T20I series had ended in a 1-1 draw. According to reports, India’s tour is likely to begin with the T20Is from November 25 followed by the ODI series from December 4. The dates for the T20Is and ODIs, however, are only tentative as Cricket Australia is still waiting for the final nod from the Queensland government to host India.

Queensland government is yet to approve the international arrival and quarantine of Indian and Australian players from the IPL in Brisbane. Anyone flying in to Queensland has to undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

Meanwhile, international cricket finally resumed in July this year after action around the world came to a standstill in March in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. England’s home Test series against West Indies was the series that marked the resumption of international cricket. England then went on to host Pakistan, Ireland and Australia too.
