The bogus ‘Spirit of Cricket’ debate has once again taken center stage after Delhi Capitals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin let off an opportunity to ‘mankad’ RCB opener Aaron Finch during the encounter between the two sides in Dubai on Monday.
Ashwin’s decision to not mankad comes in the wake of his head coach Ricky Ponting’s influence, who has been perennially against running the non-striker out.
Ponting had said in the lead-up to the IPL that he wouldn’t like Ashwin to Mankad a batsman under his supervision at Delhi Capitals. Seeing Ashwin do exactly what he wanted, Ponting was visibly delighted while sitting in the dug-out.

“This is so unsporting of MS Dhoni”- Iceland Cricket’s take a sarcastic jibe at Ricky Ponting
Meanwhile, Iceland Cricket Twitter handle has come up with a brilliant sarcastic tweet on Ponting’s bogus adherence to ‘Spirit of Cricket’
Posting a photo of MS Dhoni stumping AB de Villiers from the previous editions of the IPL, Iceland Cricket termed MSD as ‘unsporting’ as he didn’t give the batsman a prior warning before affecting the stumping.
“This is so unsporting of MS Dhoni. He does it all the time. The batsman only came out of his crease by a short margin and he didn’t mean to. Dhoni should be giving the batsman a warning and then let him carry on batting” Iceland Cricket tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin has dished out a final warning to all the batsmen in Dream11 IPL, in a tweet after the game against RCB, where he also proceeded to tag coach Ricky Ponting.
“First and final warning for 2020. I am making it official and don’t blame me later on,” he wrote on his official Twitter account.
