Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played their final home game at the Chepauk stadium in the league stage of IPL 2023 on Sunday, and the players took a lap of honour to thank the fans for their support throughout the season.

The legendary skipper MS Dhoni, who has led the team through the ups and downs, distributed gifts for the fans during the post-match proceedings. However, his post-match appearance left many fans on social media worried.

MS Dhoni was seen limping throughout the lap of honour due to his knee injury, which has been troubling him for some time now. Footage of the post-match proceedings highlighted that MS Dhoni’s left knee was heavily strapped with an ice pack attached to it. This isn’t the first time that Dhoni has been seen showing signs of trouble with his knee injury.

On several occasions throughout the season, he has been spotted limping, yet he continued his brilliant IPL 2023 season where he performed exceptionally with the bat and gloves.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming had earlier revealed that MS Dhoni has been suffering from the issue since the pre-season camp. Despite the injury, Dhoni has managed to lead CSK from the front and has been one of the standout performers in IPL 2023.

Chennai had the opportunity to become the first team to qualify for the playoffs on Sunday, but they were stunned by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who secured their first-ever win at the Chepauk in IPL in over a decade. Rinku Singh and captain Nitish Rana scored the fifties each, helping KKR script a six-wicket win and keep their campaign alive.

The loss against KKR has put a slight dent in CSK’s chances of finishing in the top two, but they are still in a good position to qualify for the playoffs. They will now have to win their last league game against Delhi Capitals to seal their place in the top four.
