DC vs MI: Rishabh Pant Excited To Have David Warner At Delhi Capitals Camp

Rishabh Pant, DC’s captain, is likewise pleased to have Warner on board. Pant described the Australian batter as one of DC’s “biggest purchases” at the player’s auctions during a media session ahead of their season opener against Mumbai Indians.
In recent seasons, the Delhi Capitals have developed as one of the stronger teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team made it to the final for the first time in their existence in 2020 and has been a constant performer in the league stages, placing among the top four.
The franchise rebuilt the team at the mega auction in February, just before the start of the fifteenth season. After IPL 2021, they released players like Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan, among others, to rebuild a rock-solid unit ahead of the upcoming season.
The purchase of ace Australian opener David Warner kicked off the regeneration process. He was signed by DC for Rs 6.25 crore, which was a bargain for a player of his calibre. They were able to purchase the ICC T20 World Cup 2021’Player of the Tournament’ without having to fight tooth and nail with other teams, which turned out to be a cost-effective transaction for them.

Pant referred to the Australian hitter as one of DC’s “greatest buys” during the players’ auctions.
“See, having new guys on your team is always interesting. Simultaneously moment, we’ve been implementing our approach for the past three to four years, and it’s proven successful. Yes, David Warner was one of our largest auction purchases since we were able to get him for as little money as feasible in cricket. So, yeah, we are pleased to have him on board,” Rishabh remarked.
The Delhi Capitals will play the Mumbai Indians in the first match of the IPL 2022 season on March 27 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
