Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has found himself back in the mix of things of late after the last ball sensational victory in the Tri-nation Nidahas Trophy against Bangladesh, earlier this year.
Since then, he hardly put a foot wrong. He guided Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to playoffs in the recently culminated edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In his debut tenure as the skipper, he led the team from the front.
Moreover, he has scored runs consistently giving stability in the middle-order. However, last night he struggled to score runs as he got out cheaply.
As a result, ICC World XI-led by Shahid Afridi succumbed to the reigning T20 champions by 72 runs at the Home of Cricket, Lord’s.
Karthik, who turns 33-year-old on June 1, knows the hardships of being a professional sportsperson who keeps travelling from one country to another.
Fortunately, his wife Dipika Pallikal, who is also an international squash player, understands the situation just perfectly.
Dipika, who was a part of India’s squash squad for the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, wished her husband a happy 33rd birthday in the most unique manner. She shared a string of Instagram stories on her official account to make Karthik feel special.
Meanwhile, both of them hardly gets any time to spend together with their busy sporting schedules. Fortunately, Karthik’s IPL season is over and the couple can spend the cricketer’s birthday together before he gets busy with the England series.
However, Dipika is not too much fon of cricket almost never watches it when it comes on television.
While cricket might not be interesting enough for Dipika, she does know how to make her husband feel special through social media platforms.
Here are the pictures Dipika shared on Instagram owing to Karthik’s birthday:
While many cricketers’ wives came to see IPL matches, Dinesh Karthik admitted that since Dipika isn’t fond of cricket in particular. As a result, she rarely visits stadiums to see him play.
“She comes for the odd IPL match. But she does not enjoy cricket so we don’t have many conversations about it,” he revealed.
“My wife never saw my match. She gets nervous. Her sisters watched it. Cricket is not her favourite sport. She watches squash when it comes on TV. Cricket does not interest her much,” Karthik had said before his wife departed for Australia to participate in the Commonwealth Games.
