Ravindra Jadeja’s T20I career looks all but over at the moment. There is little denying the fact that the allrounder has fallen down the pecking order in T20Is and is no more an automatic choice in the team. After spending nearly one and a half year away from the T20I side, he made his comeback to the T20Is during the series against West Indies in August this year.

The allrounder played all the three games against West Indies and retained his place in the team for the home series against South Africa. Against the Proteas, he picked up just one wicket in two games and scored 19 with the bat. The Gujarat star has now lost his place in the T20I team for the upcoming three-match series against Bangladesh.

And the way chief selector MSK Prasad explained Ravindra Jadeja’s exclusion from the team, it looks like the allrounder is unlikely to get a call any time soon. After announcing the squads for the Bangladesh series, Prasad said that the selectors dropped Ravindra Jadeja because he offers similar skill-set as Krunal Pandya.

Prasad’s statement pretty much makes things clear as to where Jadeja stands as far as his T20I future is concerned. The allrounder is well below in the pecking order and the latest snub means he does not feature prominently in the team’s plans for next year’s T20 World Cup. Krunal, on the other hand, looks set to play the World Cup.

The allrounder made his T20I debut during the tour of Australia last year and has been a regular in the team since then. He has also made his mark every now and then. A good outing against Bangladesh will further bolster his place in the team.

India’s T20I squad for Bangladesh series:

Rohit Sharma(c), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant(wk), Washington Sundar, Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur
