Former Australian legend Shane Warne revealed that it is a shame that India have dropped Kuldeep Yadav for the last two Tests against England.

Meanwhile, India roped in two young batsmen, Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari for the fourth Test. They replace out of form Murali Vijay and Kuldeep Yadav, who only played the Lord’s Test. However, Yadav failed to replicate his ODI performance as he returned wicketless.

Shane Warne, who took 708 Test wickets in his career, feels it was wrong to exclude Kuldeep Yadav from the squad. He noted that Kuldeep would have played a pivotal role in the last two Test against England.

Kuldeep is very good. It’s a shame that he has been sent back to India. He should have played this Test and the next one at the Oval where it spins. With a bit of wrist spin and a bit of mystery, he would have had a lot of success,” Shane Warne said to TOI.

Despite the conditions favouring pacers, India offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin has enjoyed a fair bit of success. Shane Warne feels he needs to be more patient and bring new ways to prosper in this conditions.

As far as Ashwin is concerned, he should be a bit more patient. He has to understand five wickets won’t come every day and he has to find ways to do well in conditions that don’t suit him,” Warne continues.

Shane Warne happy with the re-emergence of wrist spinners

Warne expresses satisfaction with the re-emergence of wrist-spinners in international cricket but at the same time noted that the current crop of batsmen could not tackle spinners.

It’s great that spin bowling can be a big weapon in all conditions, not just wrist spinners but finger spinners, left-arm spinners too. But I have to say batsmen of today are not playing spin bowling that well and that includes Indians,” he added.

In conclusion, Shane Warne cited T20 cricket as one of the reasons behind batsmen inability to play spin bowling.
